Search

Search is Sapience’s superpower.

Search Explained

💡

Sapience integrates search through all of its workflows, including giving you full text search across all files (including auto-transcribed video & audio!) out of the box. Think of it like having Google Search but for all your files and company files. Works great up to 10,000+ files.

1. Dashboard Search

Using AI to search the web is one of the core Sapience workflows, and that’s why the default mode for search on the Dashboard is “web”. This fires up the Web Research agent automatically. You can read more about the built-in agents here:

2. What Search Does

Whenever you add data to Sapience, it gets added to your knowledge graph. Sapience uses hybrid search with RRF to do “AI Search” accross all your data. Its BM25 + Vector + RRF under the hood. Essentially, all data you add to Sapience is “RAG Ready”.

3. Sapience (internal) Search

The other mode supported on Dashboard (and also the default with the Alt + F Search mode) is Sapience Search. This searches accross all of your assets in Sapience, whether they are Files, Notes, Projects (including Tasks and Goals) as well as Conversations.

In this screenshot you can see we are in Sapience Search mode:

And instead of using the Web Research Agent, it now displays a window with all of the resources that match that search query, that you’ve got access to in your Sapience Workspace.

4. Global Shortcut Key

The screenshot above is triggered by using the Alt + F (option on Mac) Global Search option. The default in this mode is Sapience Search rather than web search. For the developers reading this, its jsut like Ctrl + P in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf.
