Note Templates
Sapience has out-of-the-box templates, but custom templates are super powerful.
Sapience Note Templates
Throughout Sapience, we prioritize both “sensible defaults” as well as “deep customization” as product philospohies. Because of that, Sapience comes with a series of Note Templates out-of-the-box that we think are helpful, but allows you to create your own to save/re-use your own workflows. For org-admins, this also allows you to push process and structure out to other users.
Built-in Templates
- When you click any of the ‘Create New Note’ buttons, or use the Alt + N shortcut key (option on Mac), you will be greated by this screen. The 1st option in the list (not shown in this screenshot as its scrolled) is a Blank Note, which is literally that: a blank piece of paper.
- Note Templates on the other hand are pre-created Notes, that map to common workflows for Sapience Users.

Built-in Note Templates
- Voice Note: use this if you want to jump straight-in to using Sapience Voice. This will start a new empty note, kick-off a Voice session, and all you have to do is click the blue microphone icon to have Sapience start “listening”.
- Project Overview: a useful template that mirrors the approach to project management inherant in Sapience Projects. This template includes a RACI, as well as phased timelines, and a basic risk register. This is a useful document to add into any of your Sapience Projects. Remember you can always export a Note to PDF or Word and continue to edit offline.
- OKR Planning: a note template following the Google OKR approach popular among tech companies, but great for companies of all types. OKR == “Objectives & Key Results” and is modern thinking that replaces outdated “KPI” management.
- Meeting Note: just what it sounds like! A useful template to capture meeting notes and minutes, action items, discussion points and next steps.
Creating Your Own Templates
If you have a workflow you’re proud of or that you use a lot, then you should save it as a template! When you use Sapience, you automatically are given 3 “levels” of templates: Global, Org, and User. Global is published by us (the Sapience team), Org comes from your Org Admin, and User is you! Its simple. On the main page viewer of a Note, in the More menu, click “Save as Template”. That’s it! It will now show up in the New Note dialogue.
